What is Champions of War?

Champions of War (COW) is a strategic trading card game developed by Palumbo Games LLC. Players act as commanders, drafting soldiers to the "Frontline" to engage in duels and clashes where the primary goal is to secure victory through having higher ranking than their opponent. Players will use cards from their hand and cards in play with a tug-of-war style gameplay to achieve victory.

How much does it cost and how can I build my collection?

What does the future of COW look like?

We plan on making many more sets in the future, more sets come with more cards to play with! Every set will stay in print and more products will be released to help new players build collections and returning players to expand theirs. Popular sets will get priority printing while less popular sets will still be printed but at a lower rate.

Once a certain number of sets are in print, older sets will get put into a large collection set, where the pool of cards will be combined. Individual sets will average 100 to 150 cards, collection sets will have card pools of 300 to 450 cards. This is to keep older cards in print, without having so many different options at once, keeping the overall product count the same. Reprints will also be added to sets when a new art is made for a card. Those reprints will be added to the closest set to the creation of said reprint.

The community will drive a lot of the priority for products and sets. If there is a demand for a certain type of product, we will try to get it done. Due to the current scale of the company, the product will take time to develop and print. But all products will be considered for print.

How does it play?

Core Gameplay Objective

The objective is to earn a specific number of Victory Points (VP) based on the chosen game format:

  • Blitz: 8VP
  • Standard: 12VP
  • Extended: 16VP

Victory Points are earned by winning duels with drafted soldiers. If a soldier's rank is higher than the opponent's at the end of a duel, that soldier is marked Victorious, and the player earns 1VP.

Card Types and Factions

The game features five main card types, each serving a distinct purpose:

  • Soldiers: The primary combatants drafted to the frontline. They contain a Rank used for comparison. Some also include a "Transpose" ability, allowing them to be played like a counter attack from the hand.
  • Counter Attacks: One-time use cards played from the hand during the Reactions Phase to provide immediate effects.
  • Equipment: These are placed into your Arsenal and can be attached to soldiers to boost their rank or provide new abilities.
  • Items: These enter play with “Supply Counters" which are spent to activate various abilities.
  • Enhancements: Static cards that provide passive or triggered effects.

Factions (Tribes)

There are six primary colors, each associated with a specific tribe:

  • Red: Warriors
  • Blue: Frontliners
  • White: Vanguard
  • Black: Shadow
  • Purple: Mages
  • Gray: Circuit
  • Gold (Tribeless): Colorless cards that can be used in any deck.

Decks must contain 50 cards and can be a mix of up to 2 colors (gold doesn't count to the color count). You can have 2 copies of a card with the same name.

Formats

Champions of War supports several ways to play, with more on the way:

  • Standard (One on One): The classic competitive experience.
  • Around the World (Multiplayer): A mode for 3 or more players. A party like game mode with gameplay that allows everyone to participate.
  • You vs. the World (Solo Mode): A single-player mode where the player faces an automated "Solo Deck".
